January 4, 2022

Dear Families,

After thorough consideration from the district, Hamtramck Public Schools has decided to continue virtual learning in all our schools due to the rising COVID-19 cases across Wayne County. To that end, distanced learning for all HPS scholars will extend beyond the set virtual learning week of January 3 – 7 and continue through Friday, January 14.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our families, as we hoped to return to regular in-person classes after January 7th, but we recognize this is the best solution to ensure the safety of our school community. As the pandemic continues to surge, we’re reminded that we must remain diligent in keeping the health of our students, staff and community members our top priority. We will continue to monitor the cases in our county and stay updated with Wayne County Health Department to make informed decisions that best serve our students.

We aim to make this as smooth a transition as possible to avoid any disruptions this may cause in our schools, and trust that our staff and students are well-equipped to handle changes such as this. If you have any questions regarding the continuation of online learning at HPS, please contact the office of your student’s school principal.

The safety and wellbeing of our entire school community remain a top priority. Thank you for your partnership in your child’s education and for your continued commitment to the safety and wellbeing of our community.

Mr. Nabil Nagi
