Letter To Hamtramck Public Schools Families

Dear Hamtramck Public School Families:

We are honored that you have chosen Hamtramck Public Schools. We are working hard to meet your family’s needs. Recently, we sent out a parent survey asking for your feedback; based on that data and the progress of students; we are going to make a change to our schedule:

  1. Throughout the survey, we discovered that parents wanted a universal schedule so they could plan their days more harmoniously. During remote learning, we will no longer have Wednesdays as a late start. Instead, we will have four consecutive days of remote learning. This will allow for continuity within our schedule during remote learning. On Monday – Thursday, students will have regularly planned lessons and interventions with their teachers.

  1. In the HPS survey, parents shared that students needed time to finish classwork and did not want any additional homework. Therefore, we will incorporate time from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Fridays so that students can catch up on any assigned classwork. Overall, on Fridays, students will attend school until lunchtime. After lunch, students can work on assignments that were given during the week.

At Hamtramck Public Schools, we value, encourage, and welcome parent voice. We care about your family’s well-being. Please, reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Carol Paul, Executive Director of Student Achievement
