I am excited to be a part of the Hamtramck Public School District Team!  The following information has been shared with all stakeholders in August of 2016 and I am proud to say that we are heading in the right direction! As you know the data will guide many of the conversations this year.  I will be looking at multiple and varied data (state and local assessments) that will be analyzed to:  identify ALL ELLs identify levels of support for the ELLs share that data with all stakeholders determine priorities in the district goals implement professional development for staff in the focus areas use the data to guide instruction Goals for Staff Professional Growth Professional development is a key component for staff support.  Alignment is crucial so I will review each buildings’ SIP as well as the District SIP to support the PD efforts. The following will be what I would like to share or build upon if already implemented: The professional development will be centered around The Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP).  This model is research based and caters to the ELLs’ academic needs.   Marzano Instructional Strategies Thinking Maps Culturally Responsive Teaching  A huge district implementation will be the Professional Learning Communities.  This is another great addition because it offers staff to be a part of the shared decision process.  Many of the staff are very talented and skillful.  The goal will be to create an environment of learning and growing professionally through: Classroom Model Teachers Observing Teachers

Ms. Adamcyzk is accepting applications for students to be apart of the Anti-Bullying Task Force. There will be a Title 1 Parent Night October 30 at 4 PM. Student Council members need to return forms to Ms. Callahan by Monday November 3. The next meeting is Wednesday November 5.

The HOPE program is canceled today. There is a Student Council meeting tomorrow after school from 3-3:30 in Ms. Callahan's room. Tomorrow is the last day to bring $2 to help support the girls volleyball team and get free dress Wednesday October 29. This weekend the girls volleyball team wrapped up their season by winning the district tournament. The girls had a perfect season finishing 8-0 in the league, first in the league and the district. The girls also led the league in most serves scored by a team, most attacks and most points scored in a season. The girls scored the following points with serves: Amra L - 32, Priyanka - 11, Natalie - 23, Medina - 46, Ermina - 14, Jasmina - 11, Amra D - 16, Ajla - 21 and Carlisha - 20. Great season girls! We couldn't be prouder!

RED Team School Dance Friday Friday October 24, 4 PM to 6PM. $2 in Academic Support $3 at the door. Must bring your ID Volleyball Fundraiser: Free Dress Free Dress on Wednesday October 29. $2. Volleyball girls will be collecting money during Academic Support.
